  • The brooch is 1 3/8 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. It is either gold filled or gold plated judging from the wear on the back of the pin.
  • The brooch has an oval frame with two leaves on either side of the amethyst stone. The brooch dates from the early 1900s. There is a stamp on the C-clasp, "S & W", which could be Sturdevant & Whiting who made jewelry from 1886 to 1914.
